Jennifer (Jen) Sweeney – Paralegal

My name is Jennifer, but everyone calls me Jen. Having grown up in a military family, I am blessed to have lived most of my life in Yorktown, and because of that, I feel deeply connected to this community. It brings me the greatest joy to work at The Heritage Law Group and have the privilege to help the those in need. My primary role at the firm is as Attorney Jennifer Kahl’s Paralegal.

I graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in Art & Visual Technology with a minor in Events Management. My initial goal was to get my masters in Library Science and work as a museum archivist. However, I made the decision to stay in Hampton Roads and be a caregiver to my mother who was battling breast cancer. During my time as a caregiver, I pursued a career in administration. I am proud to be a graduate from Thomas Nelson Community College with an associate degree in Administrative Support Technology. I enjoy being able to use my skills, abilities, and creative perspective to solve problems and design new ways of conveying and organizing information.

Samantha Aceves – Paralegal

I am the Long-Term Care paralegal for The Heritage Law Group. I carry the big blue binders, a coffee cup, and a smile. I take pride in working diligently to provide our clients with the best long-term plan possible. I am also Attorney Jean’s Estate Planning paralegal, so you may also speak to me regarding non-long-term care practice areas. And lastly, I assist Attorney Brooks with his Guardianship/Conservatorship matters.

I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I am currently enrolled in the Paralegal Studies Associates Degree program at Liberty University (almost done!), I have my Paralegal Certificate from Liberty University as well. I am a proud mom of boys; I spend my free time teaching them and raising God fearing gentlemen.

Julie Decker – Paralegal

My name is Julie and I have been Lisa Moore’s paralegal since 2015.  I initially started my studies at Tidewater Community College studying criminal justice, but changed my mind and pursued paralegal studies.  I really enjoy what I do and love working for Ms. Moore.  I have supported Ms. Moore’s general practice and enjoy getting to know and help her clients.

When I am not in the office, I am a busy mom of 4 beautiful children, 3 sons, and 1 daughter.  My oldest son just graduated high school and has left home to explore the “grown up” world.  My other boys are twins.  They keep me very busy with their school/homework, extracurricular activities, karate, and love of video games.  My daughter, the oldest of all, is in the US Air Force and just came back to the states after a tour in Japan.

Breanna Brosemer – Paralegal

My name is Breanna, but everyone calls me Bre. I received my Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Thomas Nelson Community College in 2016. Prior to joining The Heritage Law Group, my specialty was criminal defense; it’s a far cry different than Estate Planning! I left the legal field for a brief time but returned, as helping people with legal matters is truly my passion.

I primarily support Attorney Brooks and Attorney Kahl in their estate planning matters but I also help out wherever I’m needed. You’ll often see me both at the Gloucester office as well as the York office, notarizing your documents.

In my off-time, I enjoy camping and fishing with my daughter, traveling, and FOOD! I love trying new restaurants and consider myself a fairly decent cook, so I’m constantly experimenting with recipes or helping my daughter with her baking.

Kelly Young, CP – Business Manager

Unless I am witnessing a signing for you, you may never see me, but it is my job to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible during your time with us. I manage all non-law aspects of the firm and tend to stay back in my office.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in History degree from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Historic Preservation degree from the University of Georgia. I also have two Career Certificates in Administrative Support Technology from Thomas Nelson Community College and am a NALA Certified Paralegal. I love to learn and often take a class or two for fun. Yes, I am a nerd!

I have worked in many different fields and was a litigation paralegal for three years before arriving at The Heritage Law Group. I love working for THLG because we offer a truly needed service and the work atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Missy Reynolds – Client Support Representative

I have had the pleasure of working at The Heritage Law Group since July 2020. In my free time I enjoy reading, sitting outside enjoying the Sunshine, and spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I are from upstate New York and are new to Virginia. I must say that everyone here at The Heritage Law Group has made my “new life” very warm and welcoming.

My role with The Heritage Law Group is to efficiently coordinate appointments and communications between our clients, attorneys, and staff. I ensure that you obtain an appointment that fits your needs, whether that appointment is in person, over the phone, or by Zoom. I am proud to be a part of The Heritage Law Group, because the staff and attorneys truly care about their clients and provide professional guidance, passion, comfort, and humor at their appointments.

Please give The Heritage Law Group a call today and hopefully I get to speak to you soon!
